The June E3 revealed more than the Super Smash Bros 4 release date, and Nintendo's regular updates on Wii U and 3DS games is expected to continue over the following months.
An October 3 release date is slated for the 3DS port, while the Wii U conversion is scheduled to come out in the coming holiday season. A specific date is yet to be confirmed for the Nintendo's next-gen console.
The game's official website is as transparent as it gets when it comes to developments. The E3 was able to showcase details in demo play, though. As expected, the latest Smash Bros installment saw new characters added into the roster.
Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch, Lady Palutena, and the Mii Fighter join familiar characters, including Luigi, Zelda, Bowser, and Princess Peach. Mii fighters come in a variety of play styles and special moves, in three battle classes: Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner. Each class unlocks selections out of 12 moves total, exclusive to Mii characters.
News prior to the Super Smash Bros 4 release date are updated regularly, the most recent involving Mii Fighters and the variety of optional weapons. A Mii Swordfighter has Gale Strikes, Shurikens of Light, and Chakrams at disposal. Chakrams can change direction or stop mid-air, as the player decides.
"The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one," according to an insider post (latinpost.com).
Nintendo's eighth generation console is stuck at a crossroads, with a trickle of third-party support, especially in comparison to Sony and Microsoft. The 3DS fares better in terms of available games, though 2014 saw a dearth of solid titles in the handheld console.
