Floyd Mayweather news features challenger Amir Khan's statements saying that he believes the fight with "Money" will happen, but not in September.

"King Khan" is one of the names on Floyd Mayweather's shortlist for his next opponents, as expressed by Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe. For his part, Amir Khan believes that he will eventually get his big chance to face "Money", as long as he continues to put on impressive fights.

"The fight between me and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen one day," Khan told Sky Sports about the Floyd Mayweather news. "As long as I keep winning and putting on great performances, it is definitely going to happen."

Floyd Mayweather himself hinted about his intent on facing Amir Khan next. In an interview with ESPN.com, "Money" was looking at the Wembley Stadium in England for his venue, which happens to be "King Khan's" home country.

"It's been a goal to come to the UK and put on a spectacular event and the plan is to do just that," Mayweather said in an interview with ESPN.com in early June. "I love all my fans in the UK and I want to go there and give a good show at Wembley before I retire. I plan to come in the near future."

"Money's" intended date for his next fight is in September, to which "King Khan" immediately opposed to because of his Islam background and that it will be a time of fasting for their culture during the said time.

"I cannot do September because of Ramadan," Khan explained regarding the Floyd Mayweather news. "The next time that it could happen is in May. I can fight then so it could be Floyd's next fight after September."

Amir Khan has already established himself as one of the top-tier fighters of today. He holds a record of 29-3, which placed him in the running for a fight against Floyd Mayweather.

But if the said fight does not materialize, "King Khan" is open to other options.

"I am looking at the likes of (Juan Manuel) Marquez and Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather - they are the big names and that is where I belong fighting the top guys," he said.
