Atlanta is the latest update in "Insurgent" movie 2015 news; the cast and crew are confirmed filming at downtown Atlanta this week, and Veronica Roth is also considering a cameo in the sequel.

Downtown Atlanta is expected to be busy this week, as production for Insurgent continues. From the riggings installed over rooftops downtown and especially the local Peachtree Center, it's apparent filming will involve stunts, or at least scenes which requires overhead shots.

The sequel to this year's "Divergent" is scheduled for a March 20, 2015 theatrical release date, and though details on production are a bit scarce, some of the cast are confirmed for roles: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort (whbl.com).

Woodley, James, and Winslet on "Insurgent," in this Total Film interview:

Additional cast was confirmed this week. Keiynan Lonsdale of "Dance Academy" will play the role of Uriah, Emjay Anthony of "Chef" will take on Hector.

"Divergent" director Neil Burger exits from the sequel, and Akiva Goldsman of "Winter's Tale" comes aboard to contribute in scriptwriting. Goldsman's participation in the project could indicate the sequel will have the same feel of "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," which is considered a superior installment to its prequel (screenrant.com).

Book series author Veronica Roth also falls in line in the latest "Insurgent" movie 2015 news; Roth is rumored to take on a cameo role in the sequel, or at least considering the idea.

In an interview on her latest work "FOUR: A Divergent Collection," Roth discusses her inspiration for the series' prequel of sorts, as well as the creative process involved.

"I had the three stories where he transitions to Dauntless pretty squared away in my mind. But the big surprise was the fourth [story] because I thought, "Oh my gosh, can I overlap with Divergent? I think I can!"

Roth is seriously considering a cameo role in "Insurgent," but asserts she wants it to be as menial as possible. "I don't know yet. I was hoping to maybe demote myself to just a regular extra because the cameo thing required me to do the minimal amount of acting I can do and it was very stressful. I'm not good at it." Updates to the "Insurgent" movie 2015 news are expected to roll out in the next few months, as filming and production wraps up.
