England manager Roy Hodgson Remains Firm to Keep His Position In The Midst Of A Major Loss

Suarez's wrong move on the field pushed England to a second consecutive defeat in Group D match. This comes after England's opening loss to Italy.

"There is a tiny glimmer of hope, but we are in a difficult position.

If Italy fail to beat Costa Rica on Friday, then England are out. I don't have any intention to resign," Hodgson, has reportedly said. "I've been really happy with the way the players have responded to the work we've done."

Hodgson was appointed by The Football Association right prior to the commencement of Euro 2012, after Fabio Capello's unexpected resignation.

England made it to the quarter-finals of the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine. However, they lost to. In spite of this, they beat the odds by making it to the World Cup 2014.

England depends on Italy to triumph in the succeeding matches against Costa Rica and Uruguay to avoid elimination from the tournament. England, then, needed to beat Costa Rica in the final match to survive the tournament.

England, together with Uruguay and Costa Rica would level up to three points. Judges make the final decision based on goal difference. But things are at odds, as no previous teams with successive losses in two opening games in the World Cup have avoided elimination.

"I'm bitterly disappointed, of course, but I don't feel I need to resign, no," says Hodgson confidently "On the other hand, if the FA think I'm not the right man to do the job that will be their decision not mine."
