[VIDEO] Expect A 5.5 Inch iPhone 6 Screen Come Late 2014 Release Date! Apple Set To Follow-Up 4.7-Inch Model With Larger Display? Comparisons With Samsung Galaxy Note 3 And LG G3!

A 5.5 inch iPhone 6 screen could signal Apple's significant departure from the default specs of its flagship product.

Several leaks revealed the new iPhone 6 will sport a 5.5 inch display. Though yet to be confirmed, the screen size puts it at odds with Samsung and LG's offerings.

Macrumors confirmed a user leak of a larger iPhone 6. Images posted on the site include shots of the front and back of the unit's back panel, with a diagonal measurement of 14 centimeters, or 5'5 inches.

Talks of a late 2014 release for the iPhone are revived with the latest news. The iPhone 6 is reported to be launched in two versions: in 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch models.

Photos of the 4.7-inch model were previously revealed, but this is the first time news of a larger display gained validation. Photos of molds for the front panel, battery, and chassis for the 4.7-inch model were leaked last May.

The new 5.5 inch iPhone 6 screen is all but confirmed by a comparison video posted by TechSmartt, credible YouTube gadget bloggers. The seven-minute video pits the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models together, as well as offers comparisons to the iPhone 5s, Galaxy Note 3, and the LG G3.

Notable is the size of the display compared to the G3 and Galaxy Note 3; the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 looks taller and wider by comparison. Both iPhone 6 models are also noticeably thinner than previous iPhone releases.

Previous rumors that the iPhone 6 would have a curved back and front screen aren't confirmed in the video, as the units showcased the same builds of previous iPhone generations.

Large-screen phones from competing manufacturers have shrunken bezels on the top and bottom borders, for easier, one-hand (if possible) navigation. Apple seemed to have broken the trend and offered a bigger front face, larger in comparison to devices with the same display size. The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 screen guarantees two-handed navigation, one-handed for the 4.7 inch model for users with larger hands (forbes.com).
