Katie Couric John Molner tandem has now sealed the deal. 57-year-old Couric, long-time talk show host and anchor, is now a married woman after marrying Molner in New York City. She posted her sentiments on her Twitter account and said, "so excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner."
The couple has been dating for almost two years now, and Molner popped the big question only on September of last year. He gave Couric an amazing diamond ring that was cushion cut with a simple band.
According to People magazine, he took her to the East Hampton beach and proposed to her during sunset. The wedding was pretty intimate and had only 50 guests or so as it took place right in the backyard of Couric's home. The wedding was officiated by a close friend and also featured some readings from their children. In fact, Couric's youngest daughter even sang a song for the newlyweds.
Couric was not a bit shy in showing the press her new diamond sparkler at the US Open in New York a few days after the proposal. She has also never kept the media in the dark when it came to her relationship with Molner. In fact, she was the one who went public about their relationship in April of 2012.
They both have their roots in the Midwest, with Molner as the head of mergers and acquisitions in Chicago's Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Couric was asked to describe Molner a year ago and she said, "He's great. He's from Chicago. I love Midwesterners!"
This wedding is Couric's 2nd trip down the aisle. Her first marriage was with the late Jay Monahan who died of colon cancer in 1998. They had 10 years of marriage and had two beautiful daughters, Ellie, 22 years old, and Carrie, 17 years old.
