Sarah Jessica Parker New TV Show: Crime Series Called Busted, Helmed By Devil Wears Prada Director

The 49-year old actress' first return to the small screen will be in this gritty crime drama, after the very success run of her show, Sex in the City. She will play one of the two lead characters.

The crime thriller is based on the book written by investigative journaists Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment together with the producers of the hit HBO Drama True Detective, obtained the rights to tbook.

David Frankel, who is best known for films such asThe Devil Wears Prada, and Hope Springs is attached to the project as a director. Don Roos who wrote Web Therapy and Marley & Me will pen the series' pilot.

The crime series is based on the non-fiction book published by Harper Collins, which documents the two investigative reporters' efforts to bust wide open one of the biggest police scandals in Philadelphia.

The series of news articles ran for 10 months in the Philadelphia Daily News back in 2009. This earned journalists Ruderman and Laker the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting.

"Wendy and Barbara have written an amazing true story, and we're thrilled for it to be SKE's first television project," SKE president Tim Taruber and president of production Carla Hacken said in a statement. "Sarah Jessica's coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos is simply a perfect combination that we couldn't be happier about."
