Transformers 4: Age of Extinction morphing robots might have a good chance to dominate the box office this weekend and get more than $100 million mark in its opening. According to The Wrap, probabilities are high since "online ticket sales are massive and there are no other movies opening." Director Michael Bay's action franchise will debut this Friday in 4,200 theaters in North America and roughly 35 foreign countries including China.
The film's duration which is two hours and forty five minutes might affect the expected sales outcome.
"I'm sure some people will walk out and say it was too long, but teenagers don't care, and if you're one of the true 'Transformers' faithful, that run time is a good thing," said Exhibitor Relations vice-president and senior analyst Jeff Bock. "This is a proven quantity and they're not reinventing anything."
The 4th instalment of the Transformers franchise promises to carry the same eclectic special sound effects from its predecessors that will surround viewers. Reportedly, one plot for the Transformers 4: Age of Distinction includes scientists and businessmen that try to replicate the technology of past Transformer incursions, pushing technology boundaries they learn they cannot control. These new, giant dinosaur robots add a new dynamic to the series never before seen on-screen.
Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg is the executive producer of the film and he "shapes a powerful delivery of visual effects that brings the giant robot killers to life. There were many other co-producers of the film under Spielberg's supervision," according to Guardian Liberty Voice.
The production is backed by Hasbro, diBonaventure Pictures, and DreamWorks Pictures. Reportedly, Spielberg said "he feels sure fans will hardly be able to stay in their seats."
Transformers: Age of Extinction is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The cast includes Nicola Peltz, Li Bingbing, Jack Reynor, and Mark Wahlberg.
