After scoring a victory against Timothy Bradley, Top Rank boss Bob Arum is now planning the next possible fight for his most prized fighter, Manny Pacquiao. He is already sorting possible opponents for the Pound For Pound king this 2014.
"I am very proud of Manny not only for his accomplishments on the ring, but how he matured and how he's developed. What a great person he is," Arum said.
Arum is not only excited but rather delighted with the Pacman's renewal of his contract with Top Rank amid the reported offers from different boxing promoters. There were even rumors of Pacquiao quitting boxing and playing for a professional basketball team in the Philippines.
Arum confirmed that three boxing greats are being considered for Pacquiao's next opponent. That match will take place at the Kotaii Arena in Macau on November 8th of this year.
One of the possible opponents is Mexican legend and Pacquiao's archrival Juan Manuel Marquez.
"Juan Manuel has not committed yet to the fight. I'll have the opportunity to speak with him maybe as soon as next week because I invited Juan Manuel and his wife to come to Macau so we have plenty of time to discuss it," he said.
Another possible opponent is Russian Ruslan Provodnikov.
The third option comes from the roster of the best welterweights being handled by Golden Boy Promotions.
"We will see which of these welterweights have been fighting for Golden Boy or on the contract to Golden Boy that Oscar can produce. Once we learn that, we can review those fighters. It could be Amir Khan. Canelo [Alvarez] is fighting too late. He's fighting in July. So for November, Canelo wouldn't be right. But maybe sometime next year," he said.
