Ever since "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara debuted on the silver screen three years ago, the possibility of doing a sequel was always hoped for.

Recent reports have already smashed that hope by saying that there will be a slim to no chance of having a sequel to the film, despite its blockbuster success.

However, in a recent interview at the Cannes Film Festival, "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" star Rooney Mara appealed to fans to make a petition.

"I would love to do it," she said pertaining to the sequel of "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo". "Start a petition, because I want to do it," she added.

The actress took over the role of Lisbeth Salander, made famous by Noomi Rapace in the Swedish film series, in the U.S. adaptation of the first installment of Stieg Larsson's book trilogy.

Fans have been for a Hollywood sequel based on the second novel, "The Girl Who Played With Fire."

"The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" which also stars Brit hottie Daniel Craig grossed $232.6M during its theatrical run and has been lauded with several awards and award nominations.

Now that Mara has placed the faith of the sequel on the hands of the people, fans can just wait it out if producers will be changing their decisions soon.

People still have their hopes up for the sequel. And by the looks of it, it will still be played by Mara since she really wants to do another movie.

Why not?

Meanwhile, Mara is set to play the role of a captured journalist in Annapurna Pictures' adaptation of "A House In The Sky."
