Nicki Minaj recently received her fifth consecutive win for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards on Sunday. There, she spoke about a near death experience that she claimed helped her become more true to herself, Hollywood Life noted.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die. Like, I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, 'Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ. And I would rather sit there and die. And it made me realize I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me."

Upon accepting her award, Minaj also indirectly slammed fellow nominee Iggy Azalea, the Washington Post reported.

"You guys this is always very, very emotional for me because this is my fifth year winning this award and I don't take it for granted. I really don't. I thank God that I've been placed in a position to represent women in a culture that is so male driven. And I want you to know this. I'm working on an album called the Pink Print but that's not a plug, but it's a plug. But my point is, I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it."

Minaj then mimicked Azalea's hair flipping stance and said, "And no, no, no, no no. No shade."

Meanwhile, Azalea's song "Fancy" has been on the top of the charts for the past 16 weeks but Minaj seemed to have insinuated in her acceptance speech that the 23-year-old Australian rapper does not write her own songs.

On Sunday, Minaj also gave audiences a wonderful performance of her latest single "Pills N Potions" off of her newest album called "The Pink Print." She also won the Best Group Award with her band mates from Young Money that includes Drake and Lil Wayne, according to FOX News.
