The View TV show former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly surprised by the recent news about Sherri Shepherd and Jenny Mccarthy leaving "The View." The now "Fox & Friends" co-host has been with the ABC daytime talk show for 10 years until she left for her contract with Fox News in 2013.

"I was shocked, in some ways," Hasselbeck said. UPI reported that during the Friday's episode of Fox & Friends, she told co-host Steve Doocy she didn't perceive Shepherd's leaving The View coming.

"Even if you think that might happen one day, I'm sure it would come across to be a shock," Hasselbeck added reportedly noting that she's sure Shepherd is also shocked.

The View revealed on Thursday that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy will be sent-off the show having Whoopi Goldberg as the only remaining host for now.

Goldberg was reportedly sad about the change that took place with the talk show.

"This old place used to seem a lot bigger," she sighs. "And, wait-didn't there used to be other people here?" She tries to remember. "An older one, two blonde ones? Maybe some others?" She shakes her head, laughing gently. "Ah, what am I saying. The quiet really does get to you..."

A source told E! News that the proposed overhaul came as a surprise to Shepherd and McCarthy. Nevertheless Shepherd extended her appreciation to The View.

"It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on," Shepherd said in a personal statement to Deadline. "I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

"In Sherri's case, there were negotiations but they were unable to reach an agreement," a source told US Weekly regarding Shepherd's exit.

As for McCarthy, the source says, "Jenny's departure was the result of a decision to move the show in a different direction creatively."

The announcement came a month after Barbara Walters retired herself from the position.
