"Iron Man 4" cast Robert Downey Jr.'s son Indio Falconer Downey was arrested and charged with felony cocaine and drug paraphernalia possession on Sunday.
The "Iron Man 4" actor immediately went to his son's rescue after the arrest and was said to be "guilty" as a father, a TMZ report said.
According to E! Online, "Iron Man 4" cast Robert Downey Jr.'s 20-year-old son was pulled over by authorities in his "suspicious vehicle" while driving in the West Hollywood-area. Based on the statement of Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Indio was allegedly under the influence of illegal drugs when the deputies questioned him.
Indio Downey was allegedly found with cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his possession thus prompting the arrest.
He was released at around 12:20 a.m. on Monday with $10,250, bail.
According to the Daily Mail, it was not the first time that "Iron Man 4" cast Robert Downey Jr.'s son was linked to drug abuse.
But Robert Downey Jr.'s ex-wife Deborah Falconer said last year that her son's situation was "not that bad."
Although there were confirmations that Indio had been admitted to a rehab facility for prescription pill abuse, Deborah Falconer clarified that he was not "addicted."
A People report said that even "Iron Man 4" cast Robert Downey Jr. struggled from his own drug addiction until 2001.
"We're told Robert feels a degree of guilt as a father ... because he's been through the same struggle," TMZ said.
A source also told that the "Iron Man 4" actor could very much relate with his son's sobriety.
"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being," Robert Downey Jr. said to E! News.
The actor also added that his family is grateful to authorities for their intervention that will make Indio "another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
