X-Men fans have been buzzing in excitement as a picture of the page one script of X-Men: Apocalypse got leaked by Director Bryan Singer on Instagram yesterday.
Singer captioned the pic "@xmenmovies #xmen," which is coincidentally also his first ever Instagram post. This is the fourth time the director claimed a new installment to the X-Men franchise.
The photo reveals a few plot details and most excitingly, it contains a mention of the Four Horsemen. According to the comics, these Horsemen, who takes the name of one of the biblical four horsemen of the apocalypse: Death, War, Famine and Pestilence, are mutants who either volunteer or are brainwashed by the villain Apocalypse to do his evil bidding. Once under his power, Apocalypse would then enhance their mutant abilities and transform them into super-soldiers.
On "X-Men: Last Stand", one of Apocalypse's Horsemen is the mutant Angel, played onscreen by Ben Foster. The mutant Angel succumbed to Apocalypse after losing his wings and became both Archangel and the Horseman of Death. No word yet on whether Foster will also play the same character in the new X-Men: Apocalypse.
The film has been announced for a release date of May 27, 2016. The new sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past may prove more successful, considering the previous movie grossed $717 million worldwide.
The new film boasts of a stellar team of writers, including Singer, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris of X-Men 2, as well as Simon Kinberg of the Days of Future Past, X-Men: First Class.
In the closing credits of the Days of Future Past, it was hinted that the opening scene will be set in Egypt or one of the 10 other African countries the Nile runs through. Apocalypse was also seen manipulating some bricks of some sort as four Horsemen watched from behind.
