The UFC and Chael Sonnen have permanently parted ways after "The American Gangster" failed a second random drug test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Comission.

Initially, Chael Sonnen failed the first pre-fight drug test in May, when he tested positive for banned substances anastrozole and clomiphene. This eventually led to "The American Gangster's" retirement from mixed martial arts competition.

"I have to put my health first and my family first," Sonnen said in a report by ESPN.com. "If I know what I know now, that (these substances) are going to work, get my wife pregnant, let me have a family, I will do the exact same thing 20 times."

But on June 5, "The American Gangster" failed another mandatory test imposed by the commission, this time for Erythropoietin and Human Growth Hormones. This urged the UFC to fire Chael Sonnen from his services as a commentator for their "UFC Tonight" show.

On Monday, the UFC released its official statement regarding Chael Sonnen's latest drug testing issue.

"The UFC and FOX Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen," the statement reads. "This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June.

"Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May."

After UFC, Chael Sonnen released a statement following the results, saying that he will no longer question the Commission's decision, and even volunteered to help fighters transition from using TRT to getting off it.

"Yes, the Commission is aware of other prescribed medications I was taking and I will not challenge their allegations," Sonnen said in a report by FOX Sports. "I will cooperate with the Commission and look forward to having a dialogue about how fighters who transition off TRT can avoid violating any rules."
