Scoring 11 to 8 and 6 draws, France will match up against Germany for the FIFA World Cup Quarter-finals this coming Fourth of July at Estadio do Maracana, Rio de Janeiro.
France has shown off after a lackluster start on 2010 by defeating Nigeria at 2-0 and now advancing to the quarter-finals. "We have come very far," said Didier Deschamps, The French coach, who has never lost a match as a player or as a coach in the World Cup. The fate of the team during the match only depended on Paul Pogba who scored the winning goal.
In previous match, the Brazilians all rooted for Nigeria, although Deschamps said that they wanted to attract the supporters. However, the World Cup is not held in France this year so they had to adapt to their surroundings.
On the other hand, Joachim Low, the 54-year-old Germany head coach admitted that the team should have a tremendous preparation for the match against France. "We must be better for the match against the French," he said in an interview after the 16-round-match against Algeria. He also revealed that due to his hamstring injury in the previous match, Shkodran Mustafi will not be able to play for the rest of the tournament.
The matches are getting tighter and tighter; this upcoming game will be another one to look forward to.
