‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ Movie Gears For 2015 Release Date; ‘Pitch Perfect’ Star Rebel Wilson Confirms Film Involvement

"Kung Fu Panda 3" movie release date was announced to be on December 23, 2015 as DreamWorks will take advantage of the holiday to maximize merchandise sales. "Pitch Perfect" star Rebel Wilson confirmed her involvement in the film on her social media.

"Kung Fu Panda 3" movie cast Rebel Wilson tweeted, per JustJared: "Had my first recording sesh for Kung Fu Panda 3 today..crushed it x."

The details for the story of the third installment of the Jack Black-starrer are scant other than this small summary: "Kung Fu Panda 3" "follows Po, the chosen one, as he continues on his journey mastering the art of Kung Fu ... and noodle slurping."

Rebel Wilson will reportedly play Po's love interest.

The "Kung Fu Panda" franchise has been extremely successful, with the first one earning $631 million worldwide on a $130 million budget. The sequel was even more successful as it generated $665 million in worldwide box-office sales, according toBox-Office Mojo.

In the "Kung Fu Panda 3" movie, Jack Black will reprise his role as Po. He will be joined by the original cast Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Jacky Chan, David Cross, Seth Rogen and Dustin Hoffman.

Also joining "Kung Fu Panda 3" are "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston, Mads Mikkelsen, Variety noted.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Cranston has already lent is voice in DreamWorks Animation's "Madagascar: Europe's Most Wanted," while Rebel Wilson is also a veteran in animated films having previously worked on "Ice Age: Continental Drift." This would be the first time for Mads Mikkelsen ("Casino Royale") to lend his voice, however.

"Kung Fu Panda 3" is the first co-production of DreamWorks and Oriental DreamWorks, while it will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Jennifer Yuh Nelson will be back as director after helming the sequel. Also, Guillermo del Toro will serve as executive producer, while

Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger will co-write the screenplay.
