Monica Lewinsky scandal story will be recalled as the one-time White House intern shared details of her affair with then-President Bill Clinton in a new National Geographic documentary, 'The 90s: The Last Great Decade? According to Daily Mail, NBC's Today show "gave a first glimpse at the three-part special," wherein Lewinsky opens up about "the day a 445-page report by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr was published."
"That was one of the worst days of my life. I was a virgin to humiliation of that level, until that day... I was the most humiliated woman in the world. To have my narrative ripped from me, and turned into the Starr report, and things that were turned over or things they delved out of my computer that I thought were deleted. I mean it was just violation after violation," she said. "To be called stupid and a slut and a bimbo, and ditzy and to be taken out of context, it was excruciating."
Lewinsky was only 22 when she first began her affair with the president. Their affair led to impeachment hearings against the president.
Reportedly, Lewinsky has kept a discreet life for most of the last decade. She reappeared earlier this year to write an essay in the May issue of Vanity Fair magazine about the ongoing effect the Clinton affair has had on her life.
"It's time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress," Lewinsky stated in an essay published in Vanity Fair. "I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened," she wrote.
She said that even the affair was between tow consenting adults, the public humiliation after the scandal altered the direction of her life.
"I am determined to have a different ending to my story," she continues. Lewinsky added that it's time to stop "tiptoeing around" the past. "I've decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. (What this will cost me, I will soon find out.)"
The National Geographic documentary which debuts on Sunday, and airs in three parts, also features interviews with Brian Williams, Vanilla Ice, Ice Cube, James Van Der Beek, Susan Sarandon, Roseanne Barr, Shannen Doherty, Courtney Love and Rob Lowe.
