Actor Shia LaBeouf was not sent to rehab, despite previous rumors that claimed otherwise. Rather, the "Disturbia" actor is currently being treated for alcoholism.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, LaBeouf's representative said, "Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction. He understand that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time."
However, LaBeouf's representative's statements contradict a previous report done by X-17 Online that claimed they followed the "Transformers" actors as he checked himself into a rehab facility, with an Alcoholic Anonymous blue book in tow.
"Shia was nervous; he didn't look good all morning. He was looking down and wasn't even talking to his driver. It looked like he didn't want to do it, but he knew he had to," a reporter told X-17 Online.
Meanwhile, LaBeouf was previously arrested during a performance of "Cabaret" in Broadway last week, after he allegedly disrupted the crowd with his rowdy behavior, according to Aceshowbiz.
Following the incident, the "Nymphomaniac" star was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing and is set to appear in court on the 24th of July.
Critics have expressed their opinion following the two separate incidents that involved LaBeouf. Film critic Richard Roeper told the Daily News that the actor's alcoholism and brawl in Broadway will risk his career.
"If his career hasn't reached the tipping point, he's right there on the verge of it, where just the announcement that Shia LaBeouf is in a movie is going to draw more snickers than, 'Oh, I'm looking forward to it.'"
Rentrak's Box Office Analyst, Paul Dergarabedian added, "This is somebody whose career many actors would kill for, but he seems like he's squandering all that right now with bad behavior."
