Jennifer Love Hewitt Tapped to Join CBS 'Criminal Minds' as an Undercover FBI Agent; Co-Star Joe Mantegna Says He’s Thrilled

Former "Ghost Whisperer" star Jennifer Love Hewitt has been tapped to join the CBS series "Criminal Minds," as an undercover FBI agent named Kate Callahan.

Erica Messer, executive producer of "Criminal Minds" released a statement and said, "We're thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast. Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again," Star Pulse revealed.

"Criminal Minds" is a crime drama series that is heading on to its tenth season and is set to have brand new storylines throughout. The series follows the life of "an elite team of FBI profilers who work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season," Examiner noted.

Every week, the team is faced with crimes that they so diligently try to solve. Along the way, they are faced with even more conflict not only in terms of their profession but also in terms of professional relationships and personal lives,

Hewitt will star with other series regulars including Thomas Gibson, Kirsten Vangsness, Shemar Moore, A.J. Cook, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Matthew Gary Gubler and Joe Mantegna.

Mantegna expressed his happiness over Hewitt's inclusion via Twitter and wrote, "Im thrilled to have @TheReal_ Jlh join @CriminalMinds_CBS. She is a wonderful person and a great actress, we're lucky to have her!"

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Hewitt will be working with CBS. In the past, the actress also headlined "Ghost Whisperer" that aired for five seasons. She also recently starred in Lifetime's "The Client List."

Hewitt has also guest starred in some shows including "Hot in Cleveland," "The Lost Valentine" and "Party of Five," E! News confirmed.

"Criminal Minds" is set to air this coming October 1.
