Harry Style's collaboration with Irish rockers Klondaline reportedly fanned One Direction breakup rumors. The 20-year-old supposedly visited the studio where the rockers were working, thus sparking hearsay of him making his own music and wanting to leave the hugely successful band.
One Direction breakup rumors have been flying for a while but they grew stronger this year after two members of the group were caught smoking marijuana in Peru. This scandal caused concerns over the group's ability to appeal to their current fanbase to rise.
A One Direction representative, however, came out to squash these rumors, denying Syles' exit from the group nor his supposed production of a solo album
"...any writing that he is doing is for potential One Direction songs," the rep added, "It's common knowledge that the boys write separately and bring to each other for the album."
"He just turned up to a show, and he likes our music," Steve Garrigan, Klondaline's frontman, also spoke up regarding the issue in an interview with Digitalspy. "We had a bit of free time and so we went to the studio and wrote a song. It was good fun. [The track] could be on his album if he does something, but I don't know. Nothing is set in stone." At least one of these songs that they produced together is reportedly about unrequited love.
The One Direction members are known to work with other artists when it comes to music. Niall Horan worked with McFly in the past. Liam Payne, on the other hand, had a chance to work with Pharell in the studio recently.
Should Styles decide to break away from the group and start a solo career though, he will join the ranks of former boyband members who went out and made a name for themselves, such as Ronan Keating (Boyzone), Robbie Williams (Take That), Justin Timberlake (Nsync), and George Michael (Wham!)
