Belgium triumphs over USA 2 - 1 on extra time at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador Tuesday, and moves on to the quarterfinals.

Despite USA's loss, they put up a good fight against Belgium as the team's goalkeeper Tim Howard makes a milestone in World Cup history as he achieves 16 saves in the match.

"It's heartbreaking," Howard said afterward at an article in The New York Times. "It just hurts."

Belgium takes the lead in the 30 - minute extension as Kevin De Bruyne nets a right-footed shot on the 93rd - minute mark.

Substitute Romelu Lukaku adds another point for the team as he secures a goal on the 105th - minute mark of the match with a left-footed shot from a through ball by Kevin De Bruyne which was followed by a fast break.

Nevertheless, USA was not discouraged despite Belgium's two successive goals. The team even manages to score a goal on the 107th - minute mark as Julian Green attacks with a right-footed shot from a through ball by Michael Bradley.

However, USA fails to equalize the game or force Belgium into a penalty shootout as the match ends at 2 - 1.

On the other hand, Belgium coach Marc Wilmots comments on the result of the match at an article in BBC Sports: "We had a lot of opportunities, and we dominated the game, and in the end it was well deserved even if it was scary with the US goal."

"Lukaku had been much criticised, and I told him, 'do not worry - the second round might be your day', and that's what happened," he further adds.

Belgium now faces Argentina, who won 1 - 0 against Switzerland, at Estadio Nacional in Brasilia on Saturday.
