LA Lakers news revolve around the team's interest to sign back Pau Gasol after he declared for free agency, as rookie Julius Randle was won over by co-owner Jeanie Buss during their meeting before he went off to meet a foot specialist.

According to the latest LA Lakers news from ESPN, the executives seemed to be determined in getting back Pau Gasol being the very first team to contact the Spaniard.

The source told the sports website that, "the get-together between Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and Gasol occurred at an L.A. office building Tuesday afternoon and lasted 'a few hours.'"

They also met with Carmelo Anthony on Thursday to try to lure him from the New York Knicks. The 6-8 forward also met with the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets before the LA Lakers and then, finally, the Knicks. Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears said that Carmelo Anthony would make the decision by the second week of July.

Although previous LA Lakers news reports have pointed to the tension between siblings Jeanie Buss and Jim Buss over the control of the franchise, their relationship has improved in recent months, ESPN added. This could prove the difference in luring in free agents like Pau Gasol and Carmelo Anthony.

Unlike his shy brother, Jim, Jeanie Buss can turn on the charm as proven by his meeting with rookie Julius Randle who walked away impressed with Phil Jackson's girlfriend.

The seventh pick in the draft tweeted on July 1: "@JeanieBuss it was great meeting with you today. Can't wait for opening night. Thanks for everything!"

In related LA Lakers news, the team will fly Julius Randle to Indiana to meet with foot specialist Dr. David Porter. However, execs clarified that it's just a precautionary measure.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN said that the LA Lakers are confident that Julius Randle will not require preemptive surgery on his right foot.
