Star Wars Battlefront 3 Release Date Delayed! Fans To Wait For 2016 Until The Next Installment? DICE Development Teams Pressured Between Battlefield 4 DLCs And Naval Strike

Bad news for Star Wars fans; the Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date has been pushed further, reports even claim a 2016 launch.

With the E3 frenzy over and developers left to deliver to their promises, the gaming industry is at a lull, and gamers left in expectation. Some of the biggest and most anticipated titles have been released, with Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs at the forefront.

The Star Wars game franchise is building momentum for Star Wars 7's 2015 release, with Star Wars: Battlefront scheduled to launch simultaneously with the film. The plan seems unlikely, though, based on recent news.

The game previewed with a full reveal at June E3, the trailer proof of the game in development. Inside sources claim developers are juggling tasks between the Battlefield DLCs and Star Wars: Battlefront, though, and it appears the latter suffered the consequences with a delayed release date.

The news is yet to be officially confirmed, but should give developers plenty of time to iron things out before the Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date.

Lucasfilm confirmed support for the game, including it into the Star Wars canon. The company recently announced a reset in the storyline, extending the Universe past the first six Star Wars movies. The third trilogy in the Star Wars film franchise is considered non-canon by default, as well as the ongoing Cartoon series.

The DICE development team is presently divided in terms of workloads, with the Stockholm division doing Naval Strike, and Battlefront, Battlefield 4 under DICE L.A.

Electronic Arts is calm under pressure, insisting great gameplay is priority. In a previous interview with Polygon, representative Patrick Soderlund confirms: "The most important thing for me is that we take the Star Wars license and come up with games where peoples' jaws drop." (ibtimes.com)

Star Wars Battlefront 3 release date is initially scheduled for the second or third quarter of 2015.
