The second official trailer of "Foxcatcher" has finally been released and it featured co-stars Channing Tatum and Steve Carell looking serious as ever.
Contrary to their past roles, Tatum and Carell showed off their dramatic acting prowess in the trailer which surprised fans - who would have thought they could pull off something that good?
"Foxcatcher," which is based on the life of wrestling champion Mark Schultz, challenges the 34-year-old "22 Jump Street" actor to let go of his comical antics and opt for a more serious persona, according to US Weekly.
The film follows the life of Schultz and his Olympian brother David, played by Mark Ruffalo, who was killed by their team's sponsor, John Eleuthere du Pont, who will be played by Carell.
"Foxcatcher" sheds light on du Pont's relationship with Schultz and David and the events leading up to the latter's untimely death.
The first trailer for "Foxcatcher" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in earlier in May and triggered a buzz among audiences and critics. The 51-year-old Carell's acting at that time gained respect from fans.
In an interview with US Weekly, Tatum explained what it's really like to work on all types of films. "You just have to step up to the plate and swing as hard as you can, and try to keep growing and keep taking parts that challenge you."
Meanwhile, in the trailer itself, Tatum as Schultz was featured doing rigorous training. In one of the scenes, Carell's intentions as the "creepy" du Pont became clearer, USA Today's Entertainment This noted.
If the first trailer at the Cannes Film Festival focused mainly on Carell's performance, this time around, the second trailer showcased Tatum's.
Multiple sources insinuated that the actors' ability to portray their characters may most likely merit them the biggest awards this year.
