The new Superman suit for Henry Cavill "Batman vs Superman" reveals a darker, gloomier Man of Steel, and his first photo is set against the backdrop of a broken city.
Looks like Superman is leaving the relative comfort of sunny Metropolis. The latest "Batman vs Superman" photo shows Henry Cavill clad in new Superman costume, gritty and dark compared to his suit in "Man of Steel."
The photo offers first peek at Cavill's Superman character in the movie, and it looks like he's crossing over to the Dark Knight's territory, with what looks like the Gotham skyline looming over his background.
A photo of Cavill as Clark Kent was released earlier, as part of a fundraiser for the Royal Marines. Cavill expressed support for the 1664 Challenge, giving away signed shirts to boot.
It's assumed the fictional cities of Metropolis and Gotham are contrasting representations of New York; the Batman and Superman characters existed in the same DC reality without stepping over and into each other's turf. "Dawn of Justice" collides the characters of these turfs, with new villains in tow.
The Superman of Henry Cavill "Batman vs Superman" mirrors Ben Affleck's Batman; a tired, world-weary caped crusader burdened by Gotham's corruption.
Joker only appears as part of the narrative, and new villains join the fold: Victor Zsazs, a serial killer with a knack for the knife, shady Lexcorp publicist Morgan Edge, assassin David Cain, and senator Amanda Waller (yahoo.com).
Fans of the films and graphic novels are uneasy with the team-up (or rivalry) between Barman and Superman, but Zac Snyder's gradual reveals hint "Dawn of Justice" is headed in the right direction. Snyder comments on Henry Cavill "Batman vs Superman," and how the Superman role fits.
"We've both created this guy and we can push I'm around a little bit. The more time I spend with Henry, the more he's Superman to me." (ign.com)
