"Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing triggered cancellation of subscriptions from SiriusXM as Anthony Cumia claimed that he has plenty of options after he was canned for racist rants on Twitter.
The "Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing was announced Patrick Reilly, senior vice president for communications of SiriusXM as he told TheWrap: "SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthony channel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3 after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media."
After Anthony Cumia racist remarks was cited as the cause of his firing, it caused a backlash for the company when subscribers cancelled their accounts in support of the show's co-host.
Per TheWrap, user Mike Kubrick tweeted: "So @Anthonycumia gets fired by #Siriusxm. I cancelled my subscription."
Ron Paar added: "I have always supported the O&A show, since '98, and have seen it all for them, but, how Sirius handled this was ABOMINABLE #CancelSiriusXM."
Catherine Keenan also cancelled her subscription as she wrote the hashtags #ISTANDWITHANTHONY #CancelSiriusXM.
James Ashton chimed in: "OpieRadio @notsam @JimNorton @AnthonyCumia Sorry guysbut its all or none had to cancel #JusticeForAnthony @SIRIUSXM."
The "Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing was set off by Anthony Cumia's racist rants on Twitter when he posted a photo of a black woman he claimed to have assaulted her along with this caption: "Great pic of the C--- RAG b---- f--- animal pig face worthless meat sack s-t pile stink crotch ass stain rot bung..."
In an interview with NY Daily News , Anthony Cumia only said that he's doing fine. "There's plenty of options in this day and age and that's all I'm going to say about it."
Expect also no apology after Anthony Cumia's racist rant as he claimed he was the victim in the situation.
