"Fashion Police" host Joan Rivers walked out on CNN Interview but not after telling off for being humorless and to shut up.
"Fashion Police" host Joan Rivers walked out in the middle of an interview while promoting her book "Diary of a Mad Diva" after what she claimed wasCNN host Fredricka Whitfield's "negative" way of interviewing.
According to NY Daily News, the interview started off fine with Fredrick Whitfield complimenting Joan Rivers for her long career as a comedian, author and host of "Fashion Police" over at E!
However, she immediately qualified those compliments when she said that Joan Rivers can be "very mean." That's when the interview took a nosedive.
While denying that what she says are mean, Joan Rivers explained: "I'm sure I say the same things that all your viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch. We're one of the few shows that says 'that's an ugly dress.' ... These ladies make $28 million a picture. You really think that Nicki Minaj cares I didn't like her dress?"
Fredricka Whitfield asked Joan Rivers about her offensive style of humor and whether or not she's worried about offending the celebrities and politicians. To which, she replied, "life is very tough. If you can make a joke to make something easier and funny, do it."
The CNN host continued to press Joan Rivers about the cover of her book which shows the comedian wearing a fur coat and how it contrasted with her animal rights advocacy.
"This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview," she said. "Are you wearing leather shoes?" Fredricka Whitfield replied in the positive and Rivers said, "then shut up."
When "Fashion Police" host Joan Rivers walked out of the interview, the CNNhost initially thought that it was a stunt, The Hollywood Reporter said, only to later realize that the comedian is not coming back.
