The movie stars Jay Baruchel (Hiccup), America Ferrera (Astrid), Gerard Butler (Stoick) and Djimon Hounsou (Drago) among many.
In a recent interview, Baruchel shared his experience voicing for Hiccup for the second time. And it was a challenge for him to record tracks separately from the others.
"We only got to record together once on this one," explained Baruchel. "But we've both been playing these characters for seven years so we kind of, we know the terrain I think."
"Most of the time you're in a pantry, basically, just you and, me I'm always doing it in Montreal, so I don't even see anybody, just hear people in my ears in LA," the Canadian actor continues, "it's just on satellite, so yeah. No, no-one comes up for me," he added.
Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou who is a well-seasoned actor is not new to playing the bad guy. But it's also a refreshing experience for him to lend his voice to Drago.
"It's fun to be a baddie and also the first time I'm playing a baddie," said Hounsou. "And he's such a big baddie to be played, it's exciting, I just have to justify it to my son now.
"How To Train Your Dragon 2" full movie has received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. While most find the sequel good, it hasn't quite met the expectations thrown by Dreamworks.
Forbes contributor Scott Mendelson had this to say about the box office results, and why there was a certain expectation for the movie:
"Truth be told, I expected a bigger bump and a larger overall weekend. Despicable Me 2 jumped 48% from the original and Monsters University (admittedly with 12 years of inflation and 3D) jumped 31%. The question was just how much higher the sequel to the beloved original was supposed to climb compared to its predecessor. It's also below the $60m+ openings for Madagascar 2, Madagascar 3, and Kung Fu Panda, along with the $59m debut of Monsters Versus Aliens back in 2009. And its 2.7x weekend multiplier is well below the 3-3.5x DreamWorks Animation norm."
According to an article in Forbes:
"The lower opening weekend figure means DreamWorks will need the film to perform gangbusters overseas to profit on the $145 million feature. Investors were clearly hoping for more from the film, especially considering its 93% positive rating from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes."
