Ronda Rousey defeated Alexis Davis in convincing fashion Saturday night, in a fight that only lasted 16 seconds. It was the co-main event bout for UFC 175, the organization traditional Fourth of July weekend fight card, held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
In a report by Bloody Elbow, Ronda Rousey and Alexis Davis began their fight with an exchange of punches. In the middle of the exchange, "Rowdy" was able to land a clean right hand that stunned Alexis Davis.
Capitalizing on the opportunity, the reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion executed a perfectly thrown judo toss to take the fight to the ground. But instead of locking in an armbar submission like she usually does in 8 of her total 10 fights, "Rowdy" opted to rain down punches on her opponent's face, forcing referee Yves Lavigne to step in and stop the fight.
It is said the fastest finish in the UFC's women's division.
Ronda Rousey's fight against Alexis Davis brings her up to a 10-0 record, and undefeated win-loss slate she has been holding on since her professional debut in March 2011.
Meanwhile, UFC analyst Joe Rogan went on to ask Ronda Rousey if she is willing to step in to fight at UFC 176, which is scheduled to take place on August 2nd. Rogan explained that someone from the production truck wanted him to ask the question.
Originally, the fight was meant for the rematch between featherweights Chad Mendes and champion José Aldo, but the Brazilian title-holder was forced out of the card due to an injury.
For her part, "Rowdy" immediately dismissed the news, stating that she is still due for a knee surgery, as well as letting her injured right hand heal.
"The knee surgery is something that's more maintenance that I need to be doing," Rousey said at the UFC 175 post-fight press conference in a report by MMA Fighting. "It's not a major thing at all, it's just a scope and I want to be 100 percent."
UFC President Dana White went on to back up his fighter's statements.
"I told them right up there that's not true," White explained. "I don't know where that came from. Nobody told anybody to say that."
