The Game Of Thrones Exhibition in Sydney's last day saw thousands of fans lining up to see the show's props and the 4D experience of scaling the Wall. Due to the exhibit's popularity, people had to wait four to eight hours just to get inside the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
These long lines made a lot of the "Game Of Thrones" fans upset over waiting for a long time only to be cut off from entering the venue. Many expressed their frustration at the seemingly disorganized event as well as the venue's incapacity to hold a larger crowd. They wished that the organizers should have just sold tickets to better manage the traffic of people visiting.
On Friday, Fairfax Media reported that some people were offering up to $150 on outsourcing site Airtasker just to endure the wait and secure places for them on the line.
Fans used social media sites to express their frustration, using the exhibition's official hashtag, #GoTExhibit.
Facebook user Donna Weston, wrote on the event's official page, "Very poorly planned. Just the fact that GoT has been so pirated in Australia should indicate there are a huge number of fans. So then you only show in Sydney, with little advance notice (and bugger all chance of anyone outside NSW being able to get there). I can't speak for others, but I would have paid to see a decent GoT exhibit, and would have [traveled] from Perth."
Others took to Twitter and Instagram, posting photos of the massive crowd. They also expressed their discontent with hashtags #nothappy and even #massivewasteoftime.
One disappointed fan told Fairfax Media that it was better to have just been issued a ticket than being told that the lines have been cut once you get there. "It was just absolute chaos," he added.
A 49-year-old woman, who went to the Game Of Thrones Exhibition with her daughter criticized the event organizers, saying, "You'd think that since it was really bad all week since it started they would think it would be worse on a Saturday and the last day. It's a bit silly."
The exhibit features props used in the popular HBO show, including Sansa Stark's golden wedding dress, Robb Stark's direwolf's decapitated head, Tyrion Lannister's armor, and more.
Game Of Thrones surpassed "The Sopranos" last June to become the most popular series ever. Season four's premiere episode had 6.6 million viewers tuned in.
