Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest's relationship has ended for more than a year now but resurfaced after the "Safe Haven" star speak up about it in an interview for the August 2014 issue of Redbook magazine. The "Dancing with the Stars" alum admitted in the interview that it was her who called it quits.

"Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect," Hough shared about her past romance with the "American Idol" host.

Us Weekly reported that Ryan Seacrest has been her serious boyfriend for nearly three years. After splitting from him in March 2013, Hough took some time off from dating.

According to Breathe Cast, Hough narrated the realization that she had which changed her views on her relationships, when her family went to a six-day seminar about creating your own destiny last November.

"I had this epiphany when my family went to a six-day seminar (last November) about creating your own destiny," she said, "I learned so much about myself and why my relationships didn't work that by the end I was on a high. I was seeing a couple people, but immediately [pretends to text guys], 'You are nice, but this is going nowhere," she added.

The "Footloose" star met her current beau, Brooks Laich through a mutual friend. They were set up by Teddy Sears last winter and have been going strong ever since.

"Now I'm not holding anything back, because I'd rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love. If I had been this open in my last relationship, who knows?" she added.

Hough and Laich have been an item since December 2013.
