The Last of Us Remastered news of fresh screenshots offers fodder for comparisons; how will the PS3 version fare with the PS4 graphic upgrade?

It's less than a month to the Last of Us Remastered release date (August 1 in the UK), and more leaked screenshots of the PS4 port has surfaced. It's good news a lot of PS4 owners have never played the game on the PS3; Naughty Dog's decision to port appears to be reasonable, hopefully profitable.

The PS4 port is confirmed to be in the final stages of quality assurance and testing, and Naughty Dog has now released actual screenshots of cinematics and gameplay. Comparisons between the PS3 and PS4 versions are dramatic, considering the latter's high resolution.

The images look hyper-realistic and stylized, as is expected from any console with high specs. The developers promised to maximize the PS4's capabilities in the port, practically overhauling the game, rebuilding it from scratch. Initial peek of the version to launch reveals the effort here.

The Last of Us Remastered news of screenshots are the focus of comparisons, even though Sony has yet to officially release these. The pics were also spotted on this Korean website, paired with a SCE press release.

Naughty Dog's community strategist Arne Meyer posted on GAF, hinting the leaked screenshot is legit.

"I think those screens were from the batch we sent for a print only feature in Japan. They may have been accidentally distributed. We'll see what happened, but regardless enjoy!"

The PS4 Remastered version comes in full 1080p and 60fps, the holy grail of all next-generation console games. The Last of Us Remastered news is worth the extra investment of a copy, even for PS3 owners who've gone through the game before. It's an exact port so the game is the same apart from the graphics upgrade (videogamer.com).
