Germany striker Miroslav Klose sets record in the World Cup history after scoring his 16th finals goal in the semi-finals match against Brazil on Tuesday. This put the team 2-0 ahead and by half-time Germany opened up a 5-0. The striker led the team's victory over the host Brazil which means Germany advances to the finals.

Klose is Germany's leading goalscorer with 71 goals in 136 games, and is the third player to net at four World Cup finals. The team has never lost a game in which he has scored. "Klose is not a Ronaldo, or a Pele or that kind of footballer," said Match of the Day presenter and former England striker Gary Lineker. "He is a poacher but to break that record is a phenomenal achievement."

Low said that Brazil was in shock after Germany has scored three in the span of four minutes. The hosts were cracking up and so they took advantage of that. "We were lucky that the hosts were shell-shocked. Now we must prepare well for the final." Low added.

Germany will now be preparing for the finals on Sunday wherein they will fight whoever wins in the semi-final match between Argentina and Netherlands. "We've won this match. We're in the final of the World Cup, against a different opponent," Germany coach Joachim Low said.
