Sherri Shepherd latest news focuses on her approaching exit from "The View" together with Jenny McCarthy. According to NY Daily News, Shepherd gets emotional as she and Jenny McCarthy talk over their departure from the talk show in August.
"A lot of producers have known since the spring that I didn't intend to return after my contract ends in August. I didn't want to discuss anything in my personal life because I didn't want to do anything to distract from Barbara Walters and her (retirement) celebration in May," Shepherd stated on-air Monday.
"You know I'm a woman of faith, and seven is the number of God's completion. I've been here seven years, and my time with 'The View' is complete. I'm going to forever be grateful to Barbara Walters and (producer) Bill Geddie for taking a chance on an actress and making me learn things, helping me step out of my comfort zone. They gave me a chance."
Shepherd also thanked her previous co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar, saying, "you are my sister," the added "Whoopi Goldberg, she's always had my back."
"I love the cast and crew. They made me feel like this is my family. Thank you. Thank you," Shepherd said extending her gratitude.
Reportedly, ABC's proposed overhaul came as a surprise to Shepherd and McCarthy last month. A source told E! News that the news came like a bomb to both co-hosts.
"In Sherri's case, there were negotiations but they were unable to reach an agreement," a source hushed to US Weekly regarding Shepherd's exit.
As for McCarthy, who just joined the show last September as a replacement for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the source says, "Jenny's departure was the result of a decision to move the show in a different direction creatively."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck who was a co-host with the ABC daytime talk show for 10 years, until she left for her contract with Fox News in 2013 also expressed her bafflement with the news.
"I was shocked, in some ways," Hasselbeck said. UPI reported that during last month's episode of Fox & Friends, she told co-host Steve Doocy she didn't perceive Shepherd's leaving The View coming.
