In a satellite interview with the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Daniel Radcliffe revealed to the Independent that he will not star in another "Harry Potter" movie.
The hype restarted when JK Rowling published a follow up short story about a 34-year-old "The Boy Who Lived" through the interactive website Pottermore. The short story came in the form of a Daily Prophet article written by Rita Skeeter detailing (and gossiping about) the lives of older Dumbledore Army members.
"My inclination is to say 'no' because I don't think it's even a hypothetical at the moment," the man who played the iconic "Harry Potter" reportedly said. "What she's written-and I haven't read yet but I will-I understand it's a very short piece. And he's 12 years older than I am now."
Radcliffe had lived with the Harry Potter image for a decade and is only now separating himself from the character. He has done adult roles since the franchise ended and has now become a new Broadway star. He even appeared nude on stage for a play, admitting that his more risque roles is a direct reaction from being a "child" star in the mostly family-oriented "Harry Potter" films for so long.
"What it is, I played only one character for such a long time, I think there's a little bit of envy and desire to try as many different things as possible," the "Woman In Black" actor expounded about his change of film roles. "Now that I'm in that position, I'm trying to while the getting is good."
Although fans will be disappointed, it looks like another Potter adaptation will not be in the near future.
On the other hand, JK Rowling's more mature best selling book, "The Casual Vacancy" will be getting a small screen version. BBC/HBO is currently in production to film the political story for a mini-series airing later this year.
Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" saga, will be starring in the upcoming show.
