Expect no apology after Anthony Cumia's racist rant as he sets up his own online station from home after the "Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing.
In the aftermath of Anthony Cumia's racist rant-and consequently the "Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing-the licensed gun owner was interviewed by Daily Beast who refused to say sorry for the incident.
"Any time something happens that throws a huge change in your life, you always think back on whether it could have been done differently. But, as I do that, I have no regrets about what I did, on how I handled the situation because that's how I've always handled it. Any other way would be phony. And I'm anything but phony," he said.
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old said that he will launch a new show to be broadcast from his million-dollar home in Roslyn Heights, NY.
"I'm getting the 'Live From the Compound Show' up and running, handling some logistics stuff and getting the stuff together. In the meantime, I'll be putting out a couple promos. I'm definitely ready" he told TheWire.
Anthony Cumia also expects to air his first broadcast in the first week of August. Meanwhile, the other half of the "Opie and Anthony," Greg Hughes will try to hold the reins of the show along with Jim Norton until they would have finished their contracts in three months.
The "Opie and Anthony" DJ's firing was announced Patrick Reilly, senior vice president for communications of SiriusXM as he told TheWrap: "SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthony channel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3 after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media."
After Anthony Cumia racist rant was cited as the cause of his firing, it caused a backlash for the company when subscribers cancelled their accounts in support of the show's co-host.
