Premiering on Thursday, July 17 at 8/7c on VH1, Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's reality show has gotten the public intrigued. The Grammy-winning singer and her actor husband appeared at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Friday to promote their show titled "LeAnn & Eddie," according to a report from OK! Magazine.
Media-scrutinized relationship
Thanks to paparazzi and tabloids, the couple has been in the public eye for pretty much the whole duration of their media-scrutinized relationship. It was in 2008 when Rimes and Cibrian reportedly had an affair while on the set of their TV movie Northern Lights.
At the time, Rimes was married to Dean Sheremet, her husband for six years. They filed for divorce in September 2009.
The singer was quoted in her 2010 Shape magazine feature confessing her relationship with Sheremet was "Great... but ultimately it wasn't a fulfilling marriage for either of us. We got married so young: I was 19 and he was 21, so as we got older, we grew apart."
On the other hand, Cibrian was married to wife of seven years Brandi Glanville before meeting Rimes. He had 2 children with Glanville before the "CSI: Miami" actor filed for divorce in August 2009. Glanville starts on the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," and is known for being outspoken about how her ex-husband cheated on her with Rimes.
Their side of the story
Much has been said about the two based on what has been spun by the media - admittedly with more dirt on Rimes, who has always had an image of being an all-American, country music singing sweetheart. So when the concept for LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's reality show came up, the couple accepted primarily so that they could tell their side of the story.
Aside from this, the LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian reality show also hopes to share the couple's light and funny side.
Cibrian said at the press tour: "I think, ultimately, we wanted to do a show (and) I think that this format, this genre, unscripted, gave us an opportunity to do something fun, work together, and at the same time what's really real about the show is our relationship. You'll see how we interact with one another, (as opposed to) everything else that the public reads or is fed by the tabloids and what we think they are as a couple."
Rimes joked that she has been "stripped a lot of things away," adding "We've both gone through a lot of very private things with the public eyes watching and Eddie and I really have kind of coped with all of it by laughing. We are both very much smart asses. We give each other a lot of crap. I think people think we pretty much take ourselves super seriously and we don't at all".
Will "LeAnn & Eddie" finally clear all the rumors for the couple? Judge for yourself when it premieres on Thrusday, July 17 8/7c on VH1.
