Priced at around $300, OnePlus One is truly one of the mid-range smartphones with surprisingly high-end features today. In fact, according to PC Advisor, this model can compete with Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, LG G3, and HTC One M8. However, one huge problem right now is its availability to all hopeful mobile fanatics across the globe as the company reportedly admitted a critical design error that led to some issues with the customs, thereby causing some delay on shipments.

Here's an excerpt from their e-mail to online buyers:

"The issue stems from our vision for the design of the OnePlus One. For the back cover, we wanted the regulatory icons and text to be in harmony with each other and appear be as minimalistic as possible. In order to achieve this, we modified the CE icon to match the other icons. This was deemed unacceptable and our shipment was returned."

Those who are still in line might ask, "Is the OnePlus One really worth the wait/hype?"

Here's a list of its specs and features to help you decide:

Design and Display

Undoubtedly one of the biggest phones in the market (coming in 152.9x75.9x8.9mm), The OnePlus One still has a minimalist appearance with its chrome plate around the rear camera, a monolithic black front screen, and the logos on the back cover. The front screen features capacitive keys which can be deactivated in order to use the on-screen navigation bar.

It has a 5.5-inch LTPS LCD display rendering a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, with a density of 401 ppi.

Hardware and OS

If you're looking for a faster smartphone, OnePlus One's hardware does not disappoint: It is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad core krait 400 processor and Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. It comes with 3GB of RAM ideal for gaming.

You can choose between its 16 and 64GB variants, but it doesn't have a MicroSD slot for additional memory.

The device also runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS based on the Android platform called CyanogenMod 11S, so you can tweak the interface including its icons, general UI look and feel, fonts, etc.

Camera

The OnePlus One sports a 13 MP camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, coupled with a 6 part optic system and dual-tone LED perfect for taking selfies. It also has 5 MP secondary camera set an 80-degree angle.

Battery

With its 3100 mAh battery life, one can consider OnePlus One as a remarkably powerful smartphone.

Features

To help you conserve more energy, OnePlus One has the ability to fine-tune the auto brightness levels. However, it lacks a dedicated battery-saving mode so we recommend adjusting the backlight duration to 30 seconds. For users who have enabled the developer mode, try setting the phone into a special power save mode by selecting Factory Data Reset under Settings-Backup & Reset.
