Luiz Scolari is expected to be removed as the coach for the Brazilian team after the third place plays off against Netherlands on Saturday. Fears abound that fans rooting for Brazil might not show up for the match in anger. Or, some may conduct rounds of protests against the match.
Tite, a previous coach at the Sao Paolo Club Corinthians, has been appointed to take the job of Scolari. Rumors circulate though, that Scolari may try to hold on to his job until the latter part of next year. Angers are sparked even more as Scolari modified his team strategic coaching techniques at 11 am last Wednesday, hours before the match in Belo Horizonte.
Brazil had undergone training with leading midfielders Luiz Gustavo, Fernandinho, and Paulinho in an effort to triumph over Germany midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira and Toni Kroos. Scolari surprisingly brought in the weaker Bernard, and eliminating Paulinho, in a match against Germany. The presence of another weaker player in Germany, Fred, puzzled sports experts and spectators alike.
It was clearly visible that this strategy has not been implemented by Brazil before, thus, discounting the potential the success the plan may bring.
Replacing Thiago Silva with Dante as captain of the host city's team also raised concerns. Dante has established a rather different fitting ability, other than that of a captain. Spectators and experts fear that such replacement may bring about more trouble than usual for the Brazilian team.
Many feel that Scolari's new moves may just destruct, rather than help his team.
