The day has finally come! FIFA has named the 10 nominated players in the Golden Boot award. This award honors the tournament's player who has achieved extraordinary achievement. Diego Forlan of Uruguay formerly won the coveted award back in 2010's South Africa World Cup.
Four players from Germany, three from Argentina and one player from the teams in Colombia, Brazil and Netherlands, are in the nomination of this year's Golden Boot. Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller are the crowd's top bet for this award. Neymar lost popularity in the crowd's favourite to capture the award after an accident tainted his chances in the contention.
Sunday marks the announcement of the players who will capture the coveted Golden Ball, Silver Ball, and Bronze Ball awards. The announcement will be made after the final playoff round between Germany and Argentina.
The 10 players nominated for the award, as per FIFA announcement, were: Angel Di Maria of Argentina, Mats Hummels-Germany, Toni Kroos-Germany, Philipp Lahm-Germany, Javier Mascherano-Argentina, Lionel Messi-Argentina, Thomas Muller-Germany, Arjen Robben-Netherlands, Neymar-Brazil, and James Rodriguez-Colombia.
Brazil captured this award the highest number of times, namely, in 1994 and 1998. The awarding body caps off the end of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The player who will be awarded with the Golden Boot will bring pride to its nation, even though their team has not exactly came out as the winner of the tournament.
Being recognized for the coveted awarding body, is, in itself a pride for a job excellently done at the tournament.
