The View TV Show recently publicized that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are leaving the show and news are circulating that Rosie O'Donnell will return to ABC's talk show. The news has been confirmed as ABC announced via Twitter Thursday morning that the comic comedienne's come back is official. She'll be joining Whoopi Goldberg for Season 18.
According to People Magazine, having O'Donnell in The View once again is sort of "a vindication" for the 52-year-old comedian. She left the show after an on-air feud with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck in 2007.
Hasselbeck, who expressed her annoyance with the news, is reportedly not surprised that O'Donnell is coming back to The View.
"I think this has been in the works for a long time," she told her "Fox & Friends" co-hosts when she called up to dig on her ill-famed fight with the comedienne.
Reportedly, Hasselbeck thinks that Barbara Walters' farewell show was merely a promotional vehicle to usher in O'Donnell's return.
According to E! News, though Hasselbeck may sound bitter, she is much happier on a different network.
"I could not be more thankful to be at Fox & Friends. You all are an outstanding group," she said. "I'm so thankful. Days like this remind me of that. You're all doing a great job. Mark my words, this is just the beginning-again!"
On the other hand, Whoopi Goldberg reportedly addressed assumptions that some possible combinations of co-hosts may clash with one another. "I'm tired of people saying, 'If this one comes in. If this one comes in.' I don't argue with people," she said. "We have spirited discussions."
"The respect that I have for the people who work here will not change. I will do my best to make sure we bring you The View that Barbara Walters wanted you to have, which is women discussing issues," she said. "We are not little kids. We are grown-ass women," she said.
