LA Lakers news reveal that rookie Julius Randle already signed a contract with the team as he shook off rust against the New Orleans Pelicans during the recent Summer League game. Meanwhile, the team completed a trade with the Rockets for Jeremy Lin and draft picks.

The NBC Sports dished out LA Lakers news when it said that former University of Kentucky forward Julius Randle signed the contract on Sunday, just moments before the team played the Pelicans in Las Vegas.

According to the website, the signing of the 6-9 forward wasn't immediate even if the LA Lakers picked him at seventh in the draft because the team wanted to save money on the cap space.

"I signed it like 20 minutes before the game. We were on the way to the game, and I was in my polo and shorts. My agent called and he said 'Hey, Mitch has landed. We're signing today.' I was like, what? I don't even have my shoes. I had to run off the bus, go get my shoes, take a car up here to sign and then get ready to play," he said.

The SilverScreenAndRoll blog noticed that Julius Randle obviously showed much rust because he wasn't able to play five-on-five in a while.

"When he was on the floor, Randle's game was all about taking his man off the dribble and using his first step and solid ballhandling for a big to get to the rim," the blogsite added. "Although he only ever finishes left, his size/strength combination along with very good body control allows him to absorb contact and finish over opponents even when a lane isn't there."

In other LA Lakers news, the team completed the trade for Jeremy Lin and first-round pick and the 2015 second round pick. The Purple and Gold will absorb the former Harvard alum's $15 million remaining in his contract.
