"24: Live Another Day" season finale ended on a major cliffhanger as Jack Bauer is captured and whisked off on a helicopter by the Russians hell-bent on revenge. Is this the end of everyone's favorite hero?
In the "24: Live Another Day" season finale, Jack Bauer traded his life for his partner and friend, Chloe. He is whisked away in some unnamed gulag in Moscow where torture and possibly death await.
"It's sad ... but, at the same time, there's no way the series can end like this. No way in hell. No, Jack will be back. Another series, a movie, something ... he'll be back," wrote Michael Nadeau of Boston.com.
Is this the end of Jack Bauer? Nadeau wrote that a friend suggested a good idea for next season, with Kate Morgan hiring the services of Chloe, Tony Almeida and Aaron Pierce and they sneak into Russia to bust him out of prison.
In the "24: Live Another Day" season finale, Kate Morgan surrendered her badge and gun and left the CIA after failing to save Audrey from a sniper's bullet.
"My best guess for this franchise's future? Movie. It's come close to happening before, and it's probably the best way to wrap everything up," he said.
Brian Henry of FOX News wrote that the sacrifice that Jack Bauer made for Chloe in "24: Live Another Day" season finale was a small price to pay since he finally found peace, even if a bleak future awaits him at the hands of the Russians.
"As the helicopter took off, we had another quiet moment with our hero. He wasn't desperate or depressed like before, rather he almost seemed at peace. Jack may have lost the woman he loved, but the country isn't at war, multiple terrorists were thwarted, his daughter and his best friend both got to live another day," he wrote.
