Larry Hryb (Major Nelson), the company's leading community liaison, says that the core efficiency of all the existing models will remain unchanged and that both devices will become available in October, although the exact date is yet to be known.
The Xbox One Special Armed Forces Edition Wireless Controller, as Microsoft officially calls it, will include a Metallic chrome d-pad added to the camo pattern. The controller will be retailed at $64.99. No further info on yet whether the same piece of hardware will be offered on European markets.
The Xbox One Special Armed Forces Edition Stereo Headset is also expected to arrive in October with a suggested retail price of $89.99 per unit.
The Xbox One has taken off the Kinect motion tracking system from the core retail package recently and lowered the price to $399 dollars, similar to that of the rival, Sony PlayStation 4.
Microsoft is also planning to launch the device in September on a number of secondary markets and slash the price of some games in order to make the platform more attractive to potential buyers. The company is also preparing to bring more entertainment content, which includes two Halo-related TV series.
The Xbox One is behind the sales competition as of the moment with PlayStation 4 by as much as 3 million units. The performance of the device could improve in the following months and rumors suggest that Microsoft plans to introduce some new bundles as well in order to attract gamers, including a special one based around the new Halo: The Master Chief Collection set of remakes.
