With 'True Blood' on its final season after seven years, Anna Paquin chose to celebrate the end with a hairstyle that's totally different from her character's blond look!

The mother of two, who plays Sookie Stackhouse, is no longer obligated to keep her hair blond, so she celebrated the moment by dyeing her long locks purple with bright blue highlights.

Paquin already seems to be tired of vampires, werewolves, and fairies but she still kept to her supernatural affiliation, wanting instead to become a mermaid.

The 31-year-old actress posted the photo on Twitter last Wednesday with the caption, "@Auracolorist just fulfilled my teen dream of being a mermaid. @_smoyer whatcha think?"

Anna Paquin's purple hair immediately caught the attention of her husband and "True Blood" co-star, Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton in the acclaimed series. Although he thought his wife looked great, he was quick to mourn the end of Sookie. The 44-year-old quickly responded to his wife's picture, telling her "Wow wife... You look amazing. #sookie is no more :( Long live Mrs Emery...! Xx #TrueToTheEnd#tbs7 #trueblood."

It looks like Paquin has been itching to change her hair color for a while now. When asked on Twitter whether she wanted to change her blond locks, the actress replied, "I'm changing my hair color as soon as I'm done."

Emma Watson as Hermione from the Harry Potter series and Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss from "The Hunger Games" were also obligated by contract to keep their long brown tresses for their movies. Both ladies celebrated the end of their respective franchises by cutting off nearly all of their hair. However, they stuck to safe bob cuts unlike the radical Anna Paquin's purple hair.

Purple hair seems to be the hot thing in Hollywood right now, with Kesha, Demi Lovato, Kelly Osborne, and even "Friday Night Lights'" star, Aimee Teegarden showing off their new dos on social media.

"True Blood" is currently on its seventh and final season. Catch a new episode every Sunday at 11 PM.
