LA Lakers news are buzzing about Byron Scott being the frontrunner for the next head coaching position, as a fan blog noted that the former member of the "Showtime" era with Magic Johnson is the worst man for the job.
The ESPN reported LA Lakers news when it said that the team called Byron Scott for a third interview on Wednesday.
"At this point, Byron Scott is considered the clubhouse leader in the Lakers' search for a new coach," the website said, adding that the LA Lakers are expected to name the coach within the next two weeks.
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak earlier told NBA TV during the Summer League on Monday that the team can probably hold on until September before hiring a head coach.
"Obviously that's one of the next things that we're going to address, and with putting the roster together and getting through the draft and getting through this last period, a week or two, the next thing we're going to work on is the coach, and I think we're going to have somebody in the next couple weeks," he said.
Meanwhile, in other LA Lakers news, the SilverScreenAndRoll, a fansite blog about the Lakers, claimed that Byron Scott might not be the best man to handle the task of a rebuilding team.
"While experienced, he's certainly not a winner. Over 937 games coached, Byron holds a very mediocre .444 lifetime winning percentage. In 11 complete seasons under his helm, he has only made the playoffs four times. He's been fired twice mid-season, once after only 9 games," the website said.
The site added that the only saving grace for Byron Scott was that his defensive sets are "decent." As an offensive tactician, however, he exhibited "predictable sets and a complete lack of creativity."
"His uncompromising presence and stubbornness has drawn unflattering comparisons to Scott Skiles, who similarly grated on his teams and lost locker room after locker room as a coach," SilverScreenAndRoll added.
