MTV released the list of official nominees for the 2014 Video Music Awards last Thursday, July 17 via Snapchat, which included diva Beyonce, rapper Eminem, and newcomer Iggy Azalea as frontrunners for the much-coveted moonmen.

Beyonce leads the count with a total of eight nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Collaboration for several tracks from her surprise self-titled album in the MTV list of official nominees for the 2014 Video Music Awards.

Both with seven nominations, Eminem is up for the Best Hip-hop Video moonman, while newbie Iggy Azalea's nods included bids for Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Pop Video.

Other artists who earned multiple nominations for the MTV 2014 Video Music Awards were Beyonce's hubby and music mogul Jay-Z, 2013 VMA's controversial performer Miley Cyrus, and Iggy Azalea's collab partner Arianna Grande.

Also up for the MTV 2014 Video Music Awards are Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Lorde, Sam Smith, Zedd, Avicii, Pitbull, Jason Derulo, and Haley Williams.

The MTV 2014 Video Music Awards will happen on Sunday, August 24 at the Forum in Inglewood, California and will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV!

Performers for the said event include Grande, Usher and 5 Seconds of Summer. More artists will be announced later.

Apart from the MTV official nominees for 2014 Video Music Awards, a report from E! News has listed some of the artists who were snubbed for this year's VMAs. Some of the big names who surprisingly did not earn nods for the MTV 2014 Video Music Awards include Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Beiber, and One Direction.
