The ‘Resident Evil 6’ Movie Release Date Wraps Up; Alice Set To Take Last Run Against Umbrella Corp! Franchise To End In September 12, 2014

The "Resident Evil 6" movie release date is confirmed at September 12, 2014, and is reported to wrap up the series.

Director Paul Anderson's latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise of films was met with lukewarm response, if reception of the previous movies is to be considered. Nevertheless, "Resident Evil: Retribution" managed to earn as much as 222 million dollars internationally, also solidifying his wife Mila Jovovich's stake as the lead character in the series.

"Retribution" is Anderson's most expensive project to date, with earnings that underperform at the box office. It's even less than the first "Resident Evil" ever made. Though the signs are written on the wall the RE movie franchise played out its run in the previous film, the sixth installment (title to be announced) is confirmed as the conclusion.

A screenrant.com review reveals the unraveling of the RE series: "Anderson previously told that Resident Evil: Afterlife was meant to serve as the beginning of a new trilogy, which concludes with the sixth movie. Jovovich later confirmed as much at the 2012 Comic-Con, saying her husband "really [wants] to bring this to a closure" with the sixth installment. She also alluded to the strong possibility, nay inevitability, that more Resident Evil movies are coming once she and Anderson finish their run on the franchise - be it with a series reboot or partial start-over (a la Transformers 4)."

The "Resident Evil 6" movie release date likely sees Alice in her last campaign against Umbrella Corporation. The cliffhanger for Retribution had the survivors trapped on a rooftop, in an area overrun by monstrosities created by the Umbrella Corp virus.

"Sony/Screen Gems has set Resident Evil 6 to hit U.S. theaters on September 12th, 2014, in keeping with the release pattern for the previous four installments (after Resident Evil opened in March 2002)." (screenrant.com)
