The latest "Iron Man 4" rumors will surely make the fans of Robert Downey Jr. unhappy because their beloved Tony Stark may soon give up his character to a younger actor. The 49-year old actor was able to give life to the Marvel Comics superhero and he did an excellent job with that.
Robert Downey Jr. first appeared as the billionaire playboy in 2008 and again in 2010 and 2012. If you noticed the interval in all "Iron Man" movies, they've released a film every two years so the next one should be this year. However, the character is slated to appear in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" in 2015.
Now the question is if there will still be another installment for the popular iron-clad superhero. The latest "Iron Man 4" rumors were taken from the statement of Marvel Studios president. Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly, "I believe there will be a fourth Iron Man film and a fifth and a sixth and a 10th and a 20th."
He added, "I see no reason why Tony Stark can't be as evergreen as James Bond, or Batman for that matter, or Spider-Man. I think Iron Man is a character just like that." Would that also mean that Robert Downey Jr. could be replaced by another actor to play Tony Stark just like what happened to James Bond and Spider-Man?
The "Iron Man 4" rumors were addressed by Robert Downey Jr. He told the Edge, "The smart money is you have to look at everybody's age." The actor further explained, "I'll put myself at the top of the list. Sooner or later, they've got to start over and get somebody young. I'm not there with them yet."
If he is ready to give his role to another actor, who could it be? The battle begins between Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp. WhatCulture chose the Irish actor and said: "Farrell has a strong resemblance to Downey's Stark, filling out a suit nicely and working a very similar hair style."
The website also said, "He also proved in In Bruges that he can spit out the rapid-fire quick-wit dialogue as good as anyone. Though it would be tough getting used to the intonations and inflections of a new Iron Man, if Marvel were going to make the best of it, they would cast Farrell."
Robert Downey Jr., on the other hand, gave out a hint on Facebook who he would like to star as the next Iron Man. He posted a photo of Johnny Depp wearing the Iron Man suit. Based on the "Iron Man 4" rumors, who do you think will best portray the role of Tony Stark?
